Best time to visit|Every month of the year offers something different in Cairns. Whilst the summer is hot and wet the waterfalls are in full splendour and the rainforest is amazing, everything is so Green. The bird life is also spectacular. Winter offers mild temperatures and probably is the most popular time to visit.
Cairns is the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef and is a beautiful city with a traditional seaside feel. Here you will find a lively promenade lined with cafes and restaurants or why not venture out of the city on a scenic train journey or visit the oldest, surviving rainforest, the Daintree.
However if it's tropical islands with amazing marine life that you are interested in then you must make a visit to the sparkling coral waters of the Great Barrier Reef, one of the seven natural wonders of the world.
