Diving

Hurghada is well known for its excellent diving opportunities in the crystal clear waters of The Red Sea. The sea is teaming with exotic tropical fish and marine life plus fascinating WW2 shipwrecks. Local PADI certified dive centres can offer complete beginners all the necessary instruction to complete their first dive.

Watersports

Think of a watersport and it’s probably available in Hurghada. There’s everything from windsurfing and sailing to fishing and snorkelling. You can hire a kayak or canoe or try your hand at parasailing or paragliding...how exciting!

Desert Jeep Expeditions

A great way to explore the desert wilderness is by jeep or quad bikes. Travel into the Eastern Desert where you’ll have fantastic fun zooming over sand dunes passing acacia trees with the stunning mountains as a back drop.

More About Hurghada

As Egypt is only approximately 6 hour flight from the UK, it‘s a not-too-long trip for the family and you have the massive bonus that the weather is generally fantastic all year round. Be aware that temperatures can be very hot in July and August (over 40°C) so make sure you take a very high-factor sunscreen. Hurghada was just a small fishing village up until a few years ago but now it's one of the most up-and-coming tourist resorts on the Red Sea. This is the perfect place to enjoy aquatic sports as the unique underwater coral gardens are some of the finest in the world. The beaches are sandy, the hotels are excellent and the resorts are friendly; in fact, the staff can't do enough for you! Just outside Hurghada are El Gouna and Soma Bay, two smaller Red Sea Resorts but equally beautiful diving destinations. If golf is more your thing, there are excellent golf courses at El Gouna, Madinat Makadi and Soma Bay so you can play a round or two in the sunshine. If you head out to Makadi Bay, you have the stunning backdrop of the Red Sea Mountains and desert. Gently sloping beaches meet the warm translucent waters of the Red Sea where you can snorkel and dive to see all manner of fish, coral and even dolphins!! Other activities include desert safaris, camel rides and Quad bike tours to name but a few. For those who like shopping this is a fun experience as Egyptians love to haggle so don't be shy! Makadi Bay itself offers a number of boutiques and bazaars, but if you want more modern shopping, there are more conventional malls offering international brands just a short taxi or coach ride away.
